How to Annoy Your Neighbor 3: In the Office: Review
Developers use different ways in the fight for customers’ fat wallets. Some have been convincing for a long time and persistently that their latest graphics engine is head and shoulders above the creations of competitors. The latter, with a morbid smile, talk about the seamless game world and hundreds of supposedly “living” NPCs. And still others simply waste millions of evergreen dollars on attracting famous composers and screenwriters. With such competition and general money obsession, some developers are simply surprising. About the creators Darwinia, Introversion Software, You can modestly remain silent – even two full-length articles are not enough to list their exploits. Series developers Neighbors from Hell, By the way, they also turned out to be foolish. Having literally built a penny arcade, they were able to surprise both players and journalists. It is worth noting, of course, that both parts did not receive sky-high ratings, but for games of this kind it was a clear success. A mixture of cartoon graphics and not-so-evil dirty tricks turned out to be just right. IN Neighbors from Hell there was no swearing so beloved by young people, all sorts of creepiness a la Jackass (“Jackass” on MTV), but it was this kind of “culture” that made the game beautiful. In Russia the project was called “How to get your neighbor"and since such a name was used only within our vast Motherland, our publishers decided to allocate money for the so-called third part. And indeed. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen the adventures of the cheerful TV presenter and the harmful, pot-bellied Neighbor..
And we have fun in the office too
As in the very first part, we are again the host of a certain TV show in which only one thing is required of us: to get the Neighbor. The gameplay of “office neighbor” is virtually no different from the original. We are also given a small level, a certain amount of dirty tricks and a certain number of improvised means scattered throughout the territory. A meeting with enemy number one is fatal – seeing the source of his failures, the Neighbor simply goes berserk and tears Vadya (he is the one we play for) like a hot water bottle. It’s strange, however, in the second part we were given several lives. Apparently, the developers were inspired by the original. In the third part, all the missions (there are eleven of them, by the way) are squeezed into a time frame – you didn’t have time to complete all the dirty tricks, the problem is yours. It’s worth saying more about moving around the location. The neighbor moves around the level in a strictly defined, programmed order. First, for example, he went into the dining room to have a snack, then looked in the mirror, and a little later he hobbled to the restroom. Vadya faces a simple task. While the adversary is absent from this or that room, you need to get there, collect the necessary equipment, or, on the contrary, do an evil thing like planting a banana peel. There is another type of location when the Neighbor simply does not visit part of the level. An Oscar is awarded for “perfect” completion of a mission. Next to the neighbor icon there is a scale similar to a thermometer. This is the “bitterness” scale. The more nasty things done in a row, the more unhappy the Neighbor. To get a reward you need to create something like a chain of traps – then the scale will reach its maximum value. In addition to the Neighbor himself, minor characters stand in Vadi’s path. So, if Mr. Watchman wakes up and sees that you are busy with your direct responsibilities, a restart cannot be avoided.
The interesting thing is with the puzzles. The idea is that the game should be suitable for younger schoolchildren as well. Yes, adjustable traps are logical, however, there are puzzles that not everyone can solve on a whim. We have to hammer the next means of dirty tricks into everything we can. For example, how many children know that if you put sugar in the gas tank, the car simply won’t start?.
Of course, you will have to do dirty tricks in the office. How does this differ from the domestic terror of the first part or the resort annihilation of the second?? Nothing. Only the design of locations and a set of dirty tricks. Our glorious protégé in the polygonal world of nasty things named Vadya can brazenly pour glue onto the keyboard, classically file down a chair/bench, or ruin the photocopier on which the Neighbor copied a vital report. The consequences of the latter are expressed in the brutal beating of the enemy by the boss.

The gameplay is very easy to understand – no fancy RPG elements or self-learning artificial intelligence. However, there is in "How to get your neighbor 3"one very malicious bug that spoils the whole raspberry from lightweight entertainment. Visually the game looks very, very good. The developers of textures and polygons clearly did not spare. The animation is also on the level. One thing is lousy: that same neat cartoon style was lost under the weight of dynamic lighting and other anti-aliasing. Another problem is constant bugs and shortcomings. Characters go through doors, get behind walls, etc. It would seem, "How to get your neighbor“The game is small, judging by the amount of work, but even here they managed to cheat.
The sound side of the game is quite average. And if the music, frankly speaking, is not bad, then the voice acting is simply terrible. The sound of characters drinking any drink can reduce almost any balanced person to the state of an angry, foul-mouthed mechanic.

Surprisingly, the Russian version "How to get your neighbor" turned out to be worse than its original. Either the authors lacked experience, or simply the desire to create a worthy sequel. In general, if you went through the first two parts of “A Neighbor’s Sorrow” with genuine joy, then you can take a look at office dirty tricks. For others, the original is more suitable for getting to know the series; he clearly outperforms the creation of the Stakhanovites from VZlab.
Gameplay: Fun arcade. There are practically no changes compared to the first part, but they are essentially unnecessary.
Graphics: A nice, fully three-dimensional engine produces a good picture, but the former “soft” cartoon style was more pleasing to the eye.
Sound: Nightmarish voice acting ruins the whole experience – even a good soundtrack won’t help here.
For how long?: Entertainment for the evening, nothing more. Even if you have completed the first part more than once, this does not mean that the third will be as exciting as the original.
